WHY YOU NEED THIS POOJA

In Hindu religion, Mundan (Chudakarma) Sanskar is the eighth Sanskar. This Sanskar should be performed in the first or third year. It is believed that the hair on the head from the mother's womb is unclean. The act of removing the impurities alongwith of the baby's hair is called Mudan Sanskar. This Sanskar is also considered to be the Sanskar of worshipping of the brain. This Sanskar also sharpens the brain of the baby. However, according to Hindu belief, performing Mudan-Sanskar at the age of less than one year adversely affects the health of the child.

The child's head (Kapaal) remains soft for about three years. Then, gradually, it begins to harden. Therefore, at this stage, when the baby's hair is cleaned with razors, the dirt of the head, germs, etc. are removed, and the pores of the hair are also opened. This makes the new hair thick, strong and clean. Having thick, strong and clean hairs on the head is essential for the safety of the brain. Yajurveda even says that for longevity, to be able to eat food, for productivity, for prosperity, for beautiful children, power and valour, this Sanskar should be performed.

It is believed that hair on the head is a continuation of the past life. It is undesirable for the well-being of the current birth. So Mundan is performed to do away or reduce the impact of those undesirable traits.

इस पूजा के महत्‍व

हिन्दू धर्म में मुडंन (चूड़ाकर्म) संस्कार अष्टम संस्कार है। अन्नप्राशन संस्कार करने के पश्चात चूड़ाकर्म संस्कार करने का विधान है। यह संस्कार पहले या तीसरे वर्ष में कर लेना चाहिये। ऐसा माना जाता है कि माता के गर्भ से आये हुए सिर के केश अशुद्ध होते हैं। शिशु के केशों की अशुद्धि दूर करने की क्रिया ही मुडंन संस्कार कही जाती है। इस संस्कार को मस्तिष्क की पूजा करने का संस्कार भी माना जाता है। जातक का मानसिक स्वास्थ्य अच्छा रहे तथा वह अपने दिमाग को सकारात्मकता के साथ सार्थक रुप से उसका सदुपयोग कर सके। इस संस्कार से शिशु के तेज में भी वृद्धि होती है। यद्यपि, हिंदु मान्यता के अनुसार एक वर्ष से कम की उम्र में मुडंन-संस्कार करने से शिशु की सेहत पर बुरा प्रभाव पडता है ।

बालक का कपाल लगभग तीन वर्ष की अवस्था तक कोमल रहता है। तत्पश्चात धीरे-धीरे कठोर होने लगता है। अतः इस अवस्था में शिशु के बालों को उस्तरें से साफ कर देने पर सिर की गंदगी, कीटाणु आदि तो दूर हो ही जाते हैं, मुडंन करने पर बालों के रोमछिद्र भी खुल जाते हैं। इससे नये बाल घने, मजबुत व स्वच्छ होकर निकलते हैं। सिर पर घने, मज़बूत और स्वच्छ बालों का होना मस्तिष्क की सुरक्षा के लिए आवश्यक है। शास्त्रों में लिखा है कि “तेन ते आयुषे वपामि सुश्लोकाय स्वस्त्ये”। इसका तात्पर्य है कि मुंडन संस्कार से जातक दीर्घायु होता है। यजुर्वेद तो यहां तक कहता है कि दीर्घायु के लिये, अन्न ग्रहण करने में सक्षम करने, उत्पादकता के लिये, ऐश्वर्य के लिये, सुंदर संतान, शक्ति व पराक्रम के लिये चूड़ाकर्म अर्थात मुंडन संस्कार करना चाहिये।
