इस पूजा के महत्व
राहु और केतु दोनों की पूजा एक साथ करने से भक्त को अनेक लाभ मिलते हैं।
राहु एक छाया ग्रह होने के बावजूद भी जन्मकुंडली में अपना विशेष प्रभाव बनाये रखता है। पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार समुद्र मंथन के समय राहु नामक एक असुर ने धोखे से अमृत पान कर लिया था परन्तु जैसे ही अमृत पान किया तो सूर्य और चंद्र ने उसे पहचान लिया और भगवान विष्णु जो जो की मोहिनी अवतार में थीं उनको बता दिया। इससे पहले कि अमृत उसके गले से नीचे उतरता, विष्णु जी ने उसका गला सुदर्शन चक्र से काट कर अलग कर दिया परन्तु उसका सिर राहु ग्रह के रूप में अमर हो गया।
